It occurs to me that those of you who are reading my little blog (thank you!) might want to get to know me a little bit. So tonight I thought I would tell you about something that drives me.
When I was small I almost always had paper and pen in hand, drawing little pictures and writing stories and poems. I kept blank books and filled them with all sorts of drawings, lists, ideas, and thoughts.
I think many of us, when we become adults, lose touch with the part of ourselves that needs to be artistic. Caught up in life's constant obligations, we may never take the time to just create something and enjoy the process.
One of the reasons I love sewing so much is that it is an occupation that is creative and artistic, yet at the same time practical. I can create things that are both useful and beautiful. I can meet a need for others, and at the same time feed an important part of my soul.
I find when I have spent time creating, even if it's late at night and I lose a little sleep, my mood is elevated the next day. Certainly my family benefits from that!
Can anyone else relate? Thanks for letting me share my thoughts.
