Recently I had the opportunity to do some strikeoff sewing for a friend who owns a fabric business. Strikeoff sewing is when the fabric business sends you the first print run of a new fabric, and you test it by washing it, drying it, and sewing it up into something wonderful.
This is the fabric I received. The collection is called "Dive By Octopi" and there is a toss, a stripe and a panel. I just love the vibrancy of the colors.
And this is what I sewed up. It is a size 3-6m raglan tee with matching pants. It is listed here at my Etsy shop.
Here is another view. You can see here that while I used the panel on the front of the raglan, I used the toss on the back.
I had enough fabric left over to also make an eye-catching bib. Perfectionism got the best of me, as I originally bound it with yellow and then decided it would look better with orange, and proceeded to pick out all the stitches and re-bind it. I do like the results.
The fabric washed and dried great, and was really delightful to work with. You really should go check out the Sahara Fabrics group on Facebook. That's where this fabric and others are currently in preorder. Tell Dawn I sent you!
Thanks for looking!
